The Abarth 695 biposto (pictured) is the the most extreme Fiat 500
The revised Fiat 500 range for 2014 is on show at the Geneva Motor Show this week with some nice revisions to take Fiat’s iconic little 500 forward. But if you want a Fiat 500 with decent get up and go you need to look at the Abarth 500s and now – also debuting at Geneva – you’ll also have the option of the quickest Abarth to date – the new Abarth 695 biposto. The 695 biposto comes with a 1.4 litre turbocharged engine delivering 187bhp, enough for a power to weight ratio of an impressive 5.2kg/hp thanks to weight savings cutting the 695 biposto’s weight to just 997kg.
Volvo has promised a radical change in its future design language that will be embodied in its Concept C coupé, the first concept to be developed since head of design Thomas Ingenlath's appointment in July 2012. Our first look at the concept, which debuts at this month's Frankfurt motor show, comes from a video starring Ingenlath (see left). At first it seems to just show him sketching while he explains how some people see Volvo design as "vanilla" – nice, but not iconic or cutting-edge – but if we slow it down at around the 11-second mark, we get a preview of what we can expect.
A ROAD in a key transport-link town is to be closed over fears that a sinkhole exists deep under the surface. A hole has appeared in St John's Road in Watford, Hertfordshire, and preliminary investigations carried out last week had to be stopped as there were concerns about undermining the road and footway further. Hertfordshire County Council said: "A geotechnical engineer present during the investigations advised that there is a possibility that a sinkhole exists deep down in the underlying chalk."
Following f urther investigations today, the road is being shut until work on it can be completed.
